“Freerider”
In 1994, Kotaka realized that he ‘was living on the Earth’. He had a shock that he wished he could have understood it before learning any school subject. Then he attempted to restart his life as a newborn, based on the premise of living on the Earth. Having made himself detached from TV, newspapers, and stayed away from mobile phones and internet, he lived a life accepting what he experienced as the very truth. Through the observation of himself, he started to notice that he was surrounded by the existence of the Earth, the rhythm of nature and things that happened coincidentally, and those were actually making life itself.
Gradually he could not hold what he experienced, then naturally it flooded out as words, action, colors or forms that were born from deep inside himself. Then those expressed became accepted as art.

“Freerider”
1994年に、「地球に生きている」ことに気づいた。国語や算数を習う前にまずそのことを解りたかったというショックを受ける。そのことを前提に、もう一度0歳から生きることをやってみた。TV、新聞から離れ、携帯電話、インターネットとも無縁で、自分の体験こそを真実として生きてみた。その自分を観察する中で、地球の存在・自然のリズム・偶然起こること、といったものが身のまわりにあり、人生そのものを創っていくこと、そして一個人が宇宙に密接に関わっている、と感じるようになった。
そうやって体験して得たものが、持ちきれなくなって溢れ出し、自然に言葉や文章、行動、色や形となって自分の中から生み出されていく。そしてそれが、アートという受け皿にのることとなる。
